Choosing to sponsor a child’s food, schooling, and general well-being, especially a child you have never met, can seem like a daunting prospect though. Whether the cost seems too high, you are uncertain if you will be really making a difference, or you are just skeptical of the whole concept, before vetoing the idea, consider the many convincing reasons. Child Sponsorship program provides social and educational support services to children from low income families throughout Uganda . Sponsored children come from both rural and urban areas, where stable incomes and social welfare services are insufficient for parents to maintain the daily needs of their children.
It’s easy to simplify the benefits of sponsorship into soundbites like education, medical check-ups and nutrition. And while these things are definite benefits, there’s so much more that goes on behind the gates of Milele Foundation Uganda projects around Uganda.
Here are some ways your sponsorship helps us go above and beyond in ways you might not realise:
EDUCTIONAL
When it comes to education, the children are often forced to neglect their studies either because their parents are unable to pay their school fees or they must begin working to earn an income to support their family’s needs BUT with Milele foundation Uganda and your help we happy to say children participate in lessons specifically designed to develop them academically, holistically — physically, spiritually, cognitively and socio-emotionally. As half term holidays approached, we began on the renovation of the school. At the moment we are able to say we have completed the first blocks of this project.
HEALTHY AND HAPPY
We acknowledge your contribution which has led to a sense of personal satisfaction to the children, well being and happiness. Given the connection between Milele foundation Uganda and the sponsors, it’s no surprise that the children are linked to better heath and longevity. Caring for these children help us develop patience and strengthens relationships. Whereby they are the essentials of happiness. Some of the best relationship-building opportunities come from group volunteer work.
FAMILY
For all the same reasons—empathy, happiness, relationship-building and leadership— your contribution is acknowledged and greatly shared by the child’s family. Giving, compassion and commitment thus good qualities kids learn by example.
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS
Organizing games and activities for children in hospitals or who are visiting hospitalized relatives
Collecting clothes and supplies to donate to the children
Giving free music lessons to the children
Teaching computer skills to the children
Organizing reading hours for children at school
Creating new games for children to play
It is an affordable way to make a substantial difference.
Sponsoring a child is perhaps the best way to see that small sums of money can have huge impacts. You can change a child’s life. For less than one dollar a day, you will be able to provide access to food, education, social support, and medical care to children from disadvantaged families. Making just a few small sacrifices in your own life can make a world of difference in someone else’s. .
